Start with the pitch supply rating
Holiday park supplies vary. Some pitches have relatively modest capacity while newer lodges and larger holiday homes may have more available. Ask the park what supply is provided to your pitch rather than assuming it matches a normal house.
The supply rating sets the total electrical capacity available to the caravan, not an allowance reserved for the air conditioner alone.
Then check the air conditioner's electrical input
Cooling output and electrical input are not the same number. The specification should state how much electrical power the unit draws in cooling mode.
That figure needs to be considered alongside the rest of the caravan's electrical demand.
The kettle can matter as much as the air conditioner
Kettles, electric cooking, immersion or water heating and other high-load appliances can use a large share of the available supply for short periods.
A setup that is fine while the air conditioner runs by itself may be less comfortable when several high-load appliances are switched on together.
Fixed and portable systems still need the same basic check
A portable unit may plug into a socket while a fixed split has a permanent electrical arrangement, but both add load to the same caravan and pitch supply.
The correct approach is to check the proposed equipment and the existing electrical setup rather than relying on a generic rule.
For holiday parks, an agreed standard helps
If a park knows the typical pitch supply and caravan types on site, it can set clearer expectations about what air conditioning arrangements are acceptable.
That makes repeat owner enquiries easier to handle and reduces the chance of unsuitable equipment being purchased first and checked later.
